Mission Statement
We believe that the seventh and eighth graders of this church, Hope
Lutheran, are an integral part of the church. The church has the
responsibility to help them grow in Christ and become fruitful members of
this congregation and of the community.
Our seventh and eighth graders can be leaders in the church now, and
they're certainly our future leaders. The church has the responsibility
to help them grow spiritually, emotionally and socially. Without this
balance and a sound foundation in Christ, we'll have fewer committed,
strong leaders for tomorrow's church.
Benefits
The Junior Youth Group provides the following benefits:
- It provides a way for seventh and eighth graders to actively
participate in the church.
- It establishes an organization where seventh and eighth graders
can have fun and fellowship with others their own age.
- It teaches seventh and eighth graders about Christ, his church and
living as a Christian.
- It provides a structure around which seventh and eighth graders can
form their value systems under Christian guidelines.
- It gives seventh and eighth graders a sense of belonging.
- It provides seventh and eighth graders with a constructive outlet for
their energy and social-growth needs.
- It provides the church with seventh and eighth grade insights into
worship and related activities.
- It provides an opportunity for seventh and eighth graders to serve
others inside and outside the church (Luminarias, nativity scenes,
TOTSCE-Food Collection, Match-A-Turkey, Lenten Crosses, MLM and
other service projects).
Areas of Emphasis
The Junior Youth Group's activities are divided into three major areas.
The common thread throughout is to help seventh and eighth graders learn
more about God and being Christians.
A successful program will contain an equal balance of the following
activities within a 10-month cycle:
- Social and fun activities,
- Service and mission activities and
- Bible studies and personal growth.
