Your child will be nurtured spiritually and academically, equipped to be a responsible, effective Christian citizen for life.'Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it' - Proverbs 22:6.
  • Your child may choose from a variety of school-sponsored activities including soccer, volleyball, track and field, drill team, cheerleading, basketball, the Christmas musical, talent show, and Spring play. The school mascot is the lion and the school colors are red and gold. (School Sports)

  • Your child will have access to a computer lab equipped with 30 workstations, each with a high-speed Internet connection that uses a filter to keep content appropriate. Beginning in Preschool, students use computers for early educational software. Keyboarding skills are taught at the start of third-grade, and soon begin to use Office products. Each classroom is equipped with a teacher workstation.

  • A chapel service is held each week and parents and friends are encouraged to attend. Memorization of Scripture is also an integral part of the classroom curriculum.

Enrichment-
Physical Education - Beginning in the first grade, annual testing is conducted for the fitness awards sponsored by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Art - Once a week art classes give your student the opportunity to experience a variety of 2-D and 3-D mediums. Music - Vocal music is an important part of your child's HLS experience. Students sing at various church and school functions. In addition, two levels of instrumental band are available for an extra fee and meet before school.
Parental Involvement -
Parent Teacher League ~ Hope's PTL meets monthly and coordinates many events/activities that enhance both the students' and teachers' school experience, such as National Lutheran Schools Week, faculty appreciation, fund-raising, guest speakers, parenting workshops, Field Day, and skating parties.Booster Club - An active parent booster club operates concession stands at home games, coordinates Spirit Week, organizes fund-raisers, and provides team uniforms.
Excellence ~ Hope's middle-school aged students met or exceeded the State of Kansas Building Standard of Excellence in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies on the 2001 State Assessment Tests, while the elementary-school aged students met or exceeded the Building Standard of Excellence in Math and Science. These same Standards of Excellence will be applied to your child. (HLS Report Card)
Accredited ~ With a staff of nine full-time teachers, three part-time teachers, a school nurse, secretary, and three part-time aids, HLS is fully accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation and the state of Kansas. All full-time teachers are either Synodically trained or are working towards receiving their Lutheran Teacher's Diploma.
