The Heiney Family
The Heiney Family is made up of Tim, Beth, Joel, Jonathan,
Katie and Andrea Heiney. Tim and Beth began their ministry in Guinea in 1995
after previously serving as missionaries in Ghana since 1984. They began sharing
God's love through relief work among the Sierra Leone refugees who fled into Gueckedou
during the civil unrest in their native country. The refugee leaders then took the
Gospel to unreached Guinean villages of Kissi people. The leaders taught in a different
market area, spreading Christ's love for them.
The Oetting Family
Missionaries Jon and Sharon Oetting arrived in Guinea in 1997 to assist
with the Maninka outreach. Nearly one out of every four Guineans is a Maninka person, a
staunchly Muslim group. Jon and Sharon Oetting have three children, Rachel, Joel, and Anna.
The Norton Family
Tim, Heidi, and Philip Norton moved to Guinea from Cote d'Ivoire and are
assisting the Oettings in bringing the love of Jesus to the Maninka people.
Dr. Kristen Schmaltz
After spending a year in Liberia studying tropical medicine as a volunteer missionary,
Dr. Kristen Schmaltz has answered God's call to be a missionary doctor in Guinea,
specializing in pediatric medicine.
