So Close But Yet So Far

The other day I headed out for my appointment with the dentist. I didn’t know exactly where this place was, but had an idea of the area where it was supposed to be. I got to where I thought it was, and it wasn’t there. I made a few phone calls and the dentist’s secretary gave me directions. The only problem was that she didn’t know exactly where I was either, so she told me to go in the opposite direction of where I should have been heading. After twenty minutes I gave up, cancelled my appointment, and headed for lunch. On my way to lunch, guess what I found. There was the dentist’s office not even a half block from where I was originally.

It’s sad to say that many people in this life do the same thing spiritually. They seek the truth from all types of sources and take off heading in what they think is the right direction. Some even come extremely close to finding the right path before turning around. Most of them have good intentions. But regardless, they continue to drive around lost.

The pages of the Bible contain God’s word which is truth. In a culture that believes that truth can be whatever you want it to be and whatever feels good, this is a problem. The Bible tells us the only way to heaven is believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Muslims believe in God…that’s close. Jehova Witnesses believe Jesus existed, but they don’t believe he was true God and true man…that’s close. But neither is close enough. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one can get to heaven unless they believe in Him. Don’t be misguided. Follow the directions of life as laid out in the pages of the Bible.
