Devotion

One a Day

Have you taken your vitamins today? I heard recently that taking vitamins actually does help keep your body running in good condition. They especially help to supplement necessary vitamins that are not being consumed through normal diet. Too many Americans are practicing poor eating habits, and many health problems result.

I Corinthians 10 talks about “spiritual food and drink”. Eating food and staying fit spiritually have many parallels. Many of us do not follow the routines that we should to stay “fit” spiritually. We allow the fast pace and “fast foods” to be the norm rather than the exception. We set our hearts on diets that consist of junk and force our bodies to work that much harder to process all of it. Whether that is a greesy hamburger or allowing Junior’s soccer game to take priority over church, they both are unhealthy and result in a body that will wear down faster.

So what is your spiritual “One a Day”? Do you have a devotional time, prayer time, Bible reading time, or family time that helps with your spiritual health? For some people, their “One a Day” is praying during their early morning jog. For others, it might be prayer time while sitting in rush hour traffic. For others it may be that daily devotion that is read while having breakfast. Some families make breakfast time their family time, and share a devotion then. Bed time for children is always a golden opportunity to have a devotion or prayer. Whatever it is, be sure to include a spiritual “One a Day”.
