Leaving Your Mark
This special devotion is dedicated to a devout man of God
who dedicated his life to leading children. Milt “Mr. B.”
Brueggemann, principal for Hope Lutheran School in Shawnee,
KS, traded in his earthly body for a heavenly one this past
Sunday morning. Many of you on my “devos” list know him
well. He was most certainly a man of God who lived his
faith.
In the 11 years that I taught in Kansas City, Mr. B was an
example to me in many ways. We taught together, coached
together, and led youth groups together, among other
things. Mr. B always left his mark, no matter what. Those
that knew him know how much he loved to drink coffee. I
would constantly find cups sitting in all sorts of places
that he had left behind. Whether it was on bookshelves in
the classroom, on a table cart in the storage room,
balanced on a fire alarm in Concord Hall, etc., etc., Mr. B
would leave his mark. He also quite literally left his
mark on desks or in the carpet a few times from science
experimen! ts gone awry.
But the mark that Mr. B left on the hearts and lives of
those he touched goes far beyond coffee cups and science
experiments. If I heard him once, I heard him a thousand
times tell students that when it is all said and done the
only thing in life that matters is our faith in Jesus
Christ. Milt dedicated his life to allowing the Holy
Spirit to use him in order to reach others with the love of
Jesus. He shared it. He lived it. And people were drawn
to him because of it. Thanks, Mr. B, for leaving your
mark.
