Is It Who You Know Or What You Can Do?
In the job world, many people get frustrated over the fact
that they cannot find work unless they have experience or
know somebody that can help them get a foot in the door.
Many job advertisements in the paper will seek those who
have experience in their field. This is not the same as
the farmer who was outstanding (out standing) in his
field. (sorry, bad joke) Anyway, many times the job world
is related more to “who you know” rather than “what you
can do”. It is very rare for someone to walk into a place
of employment, tell them how good they are, and then be
hired on the spot.
When it comes to our salvation, it is truly “who we know”
rather than “what we can do”. The truth is that there is
absolutely nothing we can do to get ourselves into heaven…
it is what has already been done for us in the shedding of
Jesus’ on the cross for our sins. Through Christ we can
“know” God. Some of those that don’t “know” Christ are
truly still trying to earn their way to heaven. It is our
job to share with them “who we know” (or rather…who first
knew us) before they get eternally “fired”.
